My Many Melodies

A few years ago, I moved into the University of Utah dorms. After a while of being away from my drumset at my parents house, I desired to make electronic beats. So for Christmas I asked for a Korg ES-1 Sampling groovebox that would allow me to load samples of sounds into 9 different slots and sequence those samples into loops. Thus I could load in a few drum samples of some kicks and some snares. Then load in some synth samples, and some bass samples, I could even record and edit samples. A lot of experimenting occured over the next few months and slowly I started composing my own songs. Fairly simple, and all beat oriented songs however. But it was all fun.

As time went by, I started to get this desire to learn how to play the keyboard, and synthesize sounds from scratch. I didn't know much about this subject at the time, or how useful the computer is for this sort of thing, so I bought an expensive Alesis Fusion keyboard. I bought this mainly cause it did it all, sampling, synthesizing, sequencing, but as I found out, the computer is a lot more powerful for sequencing songs. Therefore I needed a way to get my computer and my keyboard to 'talk'. So I bought a Novation X-Station which is usb powered, and also has a built in synth to suit my needs(and god, I love the X-Station more than my Alesis Fusion!) And from then on I went further and further on my musical quest.

So now I compose songs using an amazingly fun and powerful program called Ableton Live. I mainly use the software synthesizer Massive for all my synths, and I also incorporate and use my keyboards. I have a lot of fun doing this, and have composed some pretty rad songs in my opinion. I don't stick to a genre, but I'd describe my music as Avant-garde, Experimental, Ambient, Jazz, Techno. I love to share my music with people, and am slowly working on selling a cd, but until then, I'll put my songs here for your ears to hear. Feel free to download and share my music, and you can use my music freely in your low-budget independent projects as long as you contact me for permission, and give me proper credit. However if you're a hollywood bigshot, you can use my music, but fork over the cash please!

BTW, I go by the musical alias of Her Quixotic Smile
